Congratulations to the Aylmer LL#1 team for placing second in the December 28 Aylmer Local League Tournament.  The entire team played great all tournament and had to beat 2 tough teams before reaching the final game against a big and fast Embro team.

Aylmer faced an even tougher Paris team for the semi final game.  This was an extremely tight game with no scoring until half way through the second period.  Aylmer took the game 3-0.  Aylmer goals by Rhyan Hewbank (2) and Colin Holmes.  Assists went to Cole Shoup and Rhyan Hewbank.  Grady Foster stood tall in the net to preserve the shutout.

Aylmer faced a strong Embro team in the final game.  A team that had previously beaten Dorchester #2 by a score of 4-2 and a real good Tillsonburg team 2-0.  The score through the first period was 2-0 for Embro with Aylmer pulling within one goal in the middle of the second period only to see Embro go back up by 2 just over a minute later.  The Aylmer team continued to work hard and again pulled within one goal with just under 6 minutes to play in the second period.  The Embro team continued to battle and scored again just over 3 minutes later to go back up by two.  Embro managed to score 2 more goals in the third period and put the game out of reach.  Aylmer managed to score a late goal to make the final score 6-3. Goals scored by Gavin Russell, Cole Shoup and Rhyan Hewbank.  Assists earned by Cole Shoup, Gavin Russell and Colin Holmes.  Good game by Grady Foster who faced a number of tough shots by a couple of good shooters.

Congratulations to the players on a significant achievement.  All the players continue to make significant improvement and gave full effort for the tournament.

Looking forward to our next tournament in Windsor.
