Mt. Brydges Exhibition Series Ends With Two Draws
The Mt. Brydges Blue exhibition home and away series wrapped up this weekend with both games ending in a tie.

The first game played in Aylmer on December 21st was a back and forth affair with both goalies making several keys saves.  The two teams are closely matched and the game ended in an unusual and exciting scoreless tie.  This was only the second time the Aylmer team had been shut out this season.

Game 2 played in Komoka on January 3rd was no less exciting as the first game.  Mt. Brydges opened the scoring just over half way into the first and buried another less than 4 minutes later taking a 2-0 lead into the second period.  The Aylmer team responded scoring two goals in the second period.  The first goal was scored by Rhyan Hewbank with assists going to Colin Holmes and Matt Fleurie.  The second goal was scored with 3:42 remaining in the second by Colin Holmes with assists by Rhyan Hewbank and Mackenzie Steele.  The second period ended in a 2-2 tie.

The third period seen both sides have great scoring chances.  Aylmer was able to kill off a 2 minute penalty but allowed a short handed goal on a subsequent Mt. Brydges penalty with 3:15 remaining in the game.  The Aylmer team continued to push and scored a power play goal 20 seconds later.  Scoring his second goal of the game was Rhyan Hewbank with assists going to Colin Holmes and Gavin Russell.  The game ended in a 3-3 tie.

This was a great exhibition series and good test against a team that is high up in the West standings.  We could potentially see this team in the playoffs.
