Aylmer Novice LL1 Hits Rough Patch in December
The Aylmer Novice LL1 team had their first taste of adversity going 1-2-1 in league games in the month of December.

On December 6 Aylmer hosted Mount Brydges White and managed a 5-1 win.  Scoring for Aylmer was Colin Holmes with the hat trick and Thomas Dance and Gavin Russell with one each.  Colin Holmes also picked up and assist.

Aylmer travelled to Point Edward on Saturday, December 12 to face the first place Blackhawks (not surprised they are first with a team name like that).  The Aylmer team struck first with Colin Holmes scoring the first goal at 7:51 of the second period. Aylmer didn't hold the lead long with the home team tying the game 2 minutes later and then taking the lead with 4 minutes left in the second.  The Aylmer team continued to push and tied the game on a goal by Gavin Russell assisted by Kenz Steele and Cory Brubacher.  The Flames took the lead again 30 seconds later with Colin Holmes scoring the go ahead goal on assists by Thomas Dance and Kenz Steele.  The Point Edward team did not back down and came back to tie the game less than a minute later and then take the lead back with four minutes remaining in the game.  The Aylmer team wasn't done yet and again tied the game yet again less than a minute later on Colin Holmes' third of the game assisted my Matthew Worrell.  The game continued back and forth until Point Edward slipped one past Aylmer goalie Noah Sleegers with 39 seconds left in the game.  Aylmer pulled the goalie for the last 20 seconds but was out of magic and couldn't generate the tying goal.

On Sunday, Dec 13 Aylmer LL1 had a rematch with Aylmer LL2.  The Aylmer LL2 came out flying with 2 goals in the first period and never looked back with a 6-1 win.  The Aylmer LL1 team played very sluggish applying allowing the LL2 team to win many of the battles and pumping a pile of shots at goalie Noah Sleegers. The lone Aylmer goal was scored by Colin Holmes assisted by Matthew Worrell.  Certainly a game to forget about.

On Sunday December 20 Aylmer LL1 played their last game before the Christmas break.  Coming off a tough loss the previous game, expectation were high, especially against second place opponent Port Stanely. The visitors scored the first goal 45 seconds into the first period which wasn't the start the team was looking for.  Aylmer was able to regroup though scored 2 goals in the first period to take the lead into the second period.  Both goals were scored by Thomas Dance with Colin Holmes assisting on the second goal.  Both teams exchanged goals in the second period.  Colin Holmes scored for Aylmer assisted by Gavin Russell.  Colin Holmes scored again for Aylmer at 7:50 of the third period to put Aylmer up by 2.  Thomas Dance collected the assist.  Aylmer was able to keep Port Stanley of the scoreboard until 1:09 left in the game.  With the Port Stanley goalie pulled and the extra attacker on they were able to pull within one goal.  Again Port Stanley was able to get the puck deep in the Aylmer zone and with 21 seconds left in the game they managed to slide another one into the Aylmer net tying the game at 4-4.  Neither team was able to generate anything in the last 20 seconds and the game ended in a draw.  A disappointing result being up by two goals late in the game but a good score nonetheless considering the strength of the Port Stanley team.

The Aylmer team season 2 league record at the Christmas break stood at 4-3-1.
